About Sheila F. Maith

As a coach and consultant I serve a range of clients from diverse industries. My work with leaders includes individual clients, as well as executives in the NeighborWorks®Achieving Excellence Program. My organizational clients include the Federal Home Loan Banks' Community Investment Officers, United Way Worldwide, and the Calvert Foundation.

Prior to becoming a consultant I spent twenty years in the non-profit, government and quasi-government sectors. I served as Senior Advisor and Community Affairs Officer for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. In that role I oversaw the Board's Community Affairs portfolio, managing a team of professionals conducting research and outreach relating to underserved communities and markets.

Prior to joining the Board, I held positions in local and national government, philanthropy and advocacy organizations. I was Managing Director for Leadership and Policy Development at the Fannie Mae Foundation. There I built relationships with organizations seeking policy change to advance affordable housing. My partners included the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Ash Institute at the Harvard Kennedy School.

I also had the honor of serving as Senior Counsel for economic issues to the late U. S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy. I advised Senator Kennedy in his work on the Joint Economic Committee. Prior to that I held positions at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and The Enterprise Foundation (now Enterprise Community Partners), two of the nation's leading housing and community development intermediary organizations. I began my professional life in the private practice of law.

I received a J.D. degree cum laude from Harvard Law School and a Master's Degree in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government. I received an A.B. degree in public policy magna cum laude from Duke University. I hold a Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University's Institute for Transformational Leadership.
